Black Sunday

It’s a Black Easter Sunday as I hear the news of the terror attacks in Sri Lanka. Many innocent people have been killed in what has been one of the deadliest terror attacks since the end of the Sri Lankan Civil war in 2009.

Ten years have gone by since the Civil War ended, and just when it looked like the island nation was back on track for peace and growth, this happens. I hope this does not plunge the nation into another series of conflicts, especially when the nation is working hard towards recovery.

My thoughts and prayers to those who have been directly or indirectly affected by this ghastly incident.

To those who have perpetrated this horrific act, I ask them these questions: What have you achieved with this act? What was the purpose of targeting innocent civilians for your fiendish goal?

Violence and terror have never been the solution for any problems. In fact, they cause more problems than they can solve.

Peace to all those affected. I pray that Sri Lanka rises out of this crisis and brings the perpetrators to book.
